Gata Kamsky reached the pinnacle of chess as a teenager, challenging Anatoly Karpov for the FIDE World Championship in 1996 at age 21. After an eight-year hiatus from professional chess during which he earned two university degrees, Kamsky made one of the sport's greatest comebacks, winning the 2007 World Chess Cup and four U.S. Championships between 2010 and 2014.
